Wow, Mandy this is a phenomenal and inspiring video. Thanks for sharing your green passion with the interwebs! I’m about to start a vegetable garden in my mini backyard so this video and your seed list was super helpful, cheers!

Happy gardening, Zach. I think you’ll find it’s such a satisfying occupation. Also, don’t forget to talk to your plants. I’ve heard many a gardener swear by it.

Amazing. I watched this a few times. We have a garden in the back yard that I am adding to every year (nothing like what you see here). My goal is to have a fully self-sustaining garden. By that I mean nothing is bought unless absolutely necessary. We use our own compost pile for adding richness to the hard Texas soil and add our own version of MiracleGro from a second contained compost bin with Tiger Worms. I am installing rain barrels later this summer and cantaloupe ladders. Last year I over-did it and ended up with over-fertilized soil. Live and learn. I had to let the soil rest this year and we’ll begin again next year. This year we only have green beans black, berries and strawberries… fruits that don’t require a lot of fertilization. Last year we had four kinds of greens, tomatoes, 2 squash, rudabeggas (that did not do well) green beans, peas, melons and the strawberries and blackberries. My blackberries and strawberries are small this year, but I am still maintaining the plants so that we get a good crop in 2010. This may be way more information than anyone wants, but I love to talk about this subject and I am willing to trade ideas, seeds and cuttings with anyone interested. I have been successfully trading seeds and have found it to be very exciting. Thanks, Mandy. This was VERY inspirational.

I just read my posting and I was reminded of a post Anthony made to me last week claiming that when he reads my posts he hears and old lady in his head. I think it might be true. I am an old lady inside… but I may choose to embrace this. Let me think on it.
